Located in a newly developed business park in Hagerstown, the 9,500 sq. ft. freestanding building was designed as a prototype for an outpatient behavioral health clinic serving individuals and families coping with substance use disorder.

The design intends to integrate the facility into its suburban commercial setting by adhering to the scale and modulation of typical retail construction, to accommodate future multi-tenant use while maintaining a distinct street presence through cost-effective materials.

The interior consists of high-ceilinged public areas along the storefront, with smaller private patient spaces accessed by controlled entry. Natural light is maximized in the waiting area, reception, and group rooms at the front leading to the clinic spaces arranged along a clear circulation path for operational efficiency. Durable, low-maintenance materials in a subdued color palette were utilized to create an uplifting environment that fosters recovery within a limited budget.
